Any chances the entry Cayman 2.0T will start below £38K? Porsche normally does not lower prices but this time less cc could equal less £?

Or will both models now pass £40K at entry level?

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2016-po...

Pretty solid article, says pricing around end Jan 2016, first cars around end April.
I know this is the Boxster, but Cayman should be very close behind.

The Boxster is likely to leapfrog the Cayman Price. (never known Porsche to reduce prices)

And with the new PCM system now appearing that will add a minimum of 1k to the price.

So I'm expecting the Cayman to start at 42 and the Boxster at 43.5.

You could pay a lot more for a 2.0 if you want. whistle

Be interesting to know the margin on the Carreras relative to the GT cars.

I remember reading an article on the Focus family of engines in about 2000?

The 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 cost nearly the same to make as they only had a few differences.

However, the 1.4 was of a different design and cost MORE to manufacture! But the fleet market required a 1.4, so in it went!

They could have put the 1.6 in cheaper!

f4 or not, the fact that the 718 will have more power and torque and will feel considerably quicker than the outgoing 981 suggests to me the price will not be less. I would expect a small increase, as with most new models.

I bet they hardly made any on the metzger engined gt/turbos. Didn't someone on here reckon the new engine cost a third of the price compared to the old one (metzner in gts not normal carrera engine)?

From what I have read the 2.0 turbo get a better review i.e response sound than the 2.5 so maybe for the sake off 500cc could be more of a bargain.

Yes, my 2003 E46 330ci MSport Cab was the last of nine BMWs for me for the same reasons.

And my £43k 2.0 Audi TTS had a nasty peaky 4 pot turbo. I'll resist this type again for as long as possible.

Back to 6 cylinders, NA, high revs again now. Ah... motoring bliss.

Bang on!

I thought I would just be having a Boxster/Cayman every 3-4 years for the rest of my days.....but this has messed things up a little!

I loved my E46 330 ci Msport.....but ...GOD...the new BM's are so boring.

I'm gonna guess 39.9K for Cayman and 43K for Boxster.

Will be interesting to look beyond any headline prices and see how the cost of options compare like-for-like between the 981.1 and 981.2.

Not exactly sure when we will get that info.

Chatting at my local OPC this morning. Salesman said recent magazine articles suggesting more prices/specs to be released by end of January unlikely. They were not expecting much info until just before 718 launch in April.

He did mention Dealer Principle had seen some official specs and that base 981.2 Cayster was faster the 981.1 Cayster S.

They'd already had 2 deposits (£2000 fully refundable) for 718's.
