Cayman 2.7 Project - what would you do?
Discussion

My next car will soon (hopefully) be a Cayman but I'd like to buy one cheap enough so I have some money on the side to mildly customise it. I was thinking around £15k purchase price.
I'd like it to be a sort of Hot-Rod that I won't become precious about, so it's going to be wrapped.
I'm thinking:
1. 2.7 Engine with Manual gearbox (better fuel, lower tax, more reliable?)
2. Switchable Sports Exhaust (should that already be on the car?)
3. Riviera or Gulf Blue Wrap (Totally Dynamics)
4. Orange or Black wheels (17's would be my preference. Are 18's too harsh without PASM?)
5. PASM (?)
6. Turbo at a later date?
7. An exhaust that spits out flames (for my son).
8. Eibach Pro Sport lowering springs
If anyone's got one for sale that isn't in perfect cosmetic condition I may well be interested.
All ideas welcome. Cheers.

5. PASM (?) Gives a better ride with large diameter wheels, otherwise not a deal breaker imo
6. Turbo at a later date?
7. An exhaust that spits out flames (for my son).

Thanks Trev.
I want it to be a light, fun car that sounds great even when not being thrashed. My wife's Boxster S has a lovely standard exhaust note above 4500rpm, but by then I'm usually going too fast for my talent.
I think there's a lot to be said for the smaller engined cars if it's mainly B-road driving, which mine will be. I may even go on a track-day if it works out.

I would do (in no particular order)
proper passive suspension setup
lightweight bucket seats
lightweight rims (can be cheap ala oz allegerita)
lightweight exhaust, possibly cat delete
makrolon/lexan windows
lightweight battery
if you want to go overboard some pccbs from sitcom (unrealistic price wise though)
basically try to get weight as low as possible with a good suspension setup done by somebody who knows what they are doing
I would rather get it repainted than wrapped but I guess that is also a cost issue

Thanks MDL. I agree, less weight, more fun.proper passive suspension setup

What is a passive suspension setup?
Being one of the older generation I don't want any spine-jarring. Would it be tough or adjustable?
Lightweight rims is a great idea. I love some of those OZ wheels.
I'd rather re-paint than wrap, but I do like the matte'lustre finish which I'm not sure you can get with paint.
But then again a wrap is £2k as opposed to probably a lot more with a repaint.
