A quick question for all you lucky Cayman GT4 owners - how far in advance did you place your orders/LOIs/deposits?

I'm just curious to see if anyone late to the game managed to secure a car.....

Yes, because a friend of mine placed a deposit after the GT4 was officially anounced and got one in the 'second batch'.

On the other hand, i probably submitted my LOI a good year before that, and put my deposit down a couple of months later on and didn't get one. Go figure.

Interesting - same OPC? Different relationship with them?

Well I pursued all OPC's and eventually put a deposit down in October on a "promise" of next in line. I got my order confirmed in November with a June build/delivery.

No previous association with the dealership I've bought from.

Was that the day it was launched? So no LOI etc?

Also, were any of you brand new to the OPC with no prior purchases etc?

I'm interested to see if I could have possibly got one had I tried.........

I doubt the order processing/allocation works to the fine engineering standards the GT4 works to.

No LOI, reading Pistonheads over tea and saw the release pics. Ordered following day at 0830 as soon as sales dept opened, paid £5k deposit over phone. No Porsche history prior to this car but had been there before and looked at a Cayman.

Then proceeded to buy the wife some flowers, spa weekend away and advise I had ordered a new car (I was looking for an F430 at time but she thought I was just looking, had never even mentioned the Porsche).

Mine being collected 1st March, was delayed as I opted for PTS otherwise would have come in Nov.

December 2014 - LOI in..
February 2015 - Deposit Paid
October 2015 - Offered a Jan build (turned it down as no LWB \ CS at time)
  • * Twitched a lot ***
January 2016 - Confirmed April Build.

... it's been a journey.

Cheers - sounds like I may have had the chance of one then, had I done what you did. Interesting to know.

I don't think I could practically live with one given the roads around where I live, and the speed bumps. Hopefully my forthcoming CGTS will give me 90%+ of what the GT4 has instead....

Submitted a LOI well before announcement, first one at the dealership. Was called on a Monday morning after announcement and left a voicemail asking for a deposit (was in work) called back in the afternoon and was told they already had too many deposits down so I had no chance. Have owned 4 Porsche's, 3 from that dealership. Was devastated at the time, but over it now.... just about!

That sounds horrendous, well done to that man for not throwing a wobbler.

Hi. Does your forum name imply that you now own the former Max Bygraves registration MB 1? Interested, as I am also a Mark B, and like personalised registrations. If you own it I probably would say let me know if you ever want to sell, but I probably couldn't afford it!

LOI in back end of 2014
Deposit placed on launch day (half way up mountain in the Alps)
Car delivered in December

I have a good relationship with my local OPC but not to the extent that I would say it would have guaranteed me a car.

Deposit down in Feb 2015 without previous history at OPC. No word till this month but now getting a June build car.

I did pop in around July time for a chat but not sure what swung it.

LOI a few months prior to official launch. Deposit at launch (Feb 15). Initially advised 3rd in line but bumped to 4th which put me outside of the first batch of cars. Delayed further due to CS pack (probably seats). Car arrived at the dealers early January 16.

Nope! It's my initials but don't own a plate smile
