Well the Unicorn has kicked me in the balls again today biggrin

Sudden squishy pedal which I would assume means MC failure.

Opportunity to put in the GT3 MC there would seem to be two different part numbers for this am I right in thinking that I would need the 997 part

Cheaper to get part not in a Porsche box. The 997GT3 part is:

TRW part number PMN166

That's the one I got for my CR. Must get it fitted before our July trip.

wont be a MC fail imo, more like a leak in the system or air lock if you have a sudden failure.
I am sure 99% of people don't know what a MC is or what it does !!

Well the reservoir is full no wet patches under the car. Assuming the seal to the reservoir has failed so pressure going there instead of to the brakes thats how it would normally fail?

That doesn't make any sense at all. The reservoir is gravity fed to the MC and there is a double main seals which apply pressure to the system when brake is pressed. If the seals stop working it would not apply pressure to the reservoir it just wouldn't pressurize the system fully.

The seals can sometimes push backwards when someone fits new pads and pushes the caliper pistons back in, but not common on these cars.

Just been out in the car again after a couple of stops the pedal feel is normal but seems to be sticking a tiny bit. When I pull up and press the brake it slowly goes to the floor.

Guess who just had new pads fitted?
