Mid rear boxster leak
Discussion
Hi there,
I have a Y reg boxster that I thought I had fixed everything but it looks like I have a leak.
I replaced the water/coolant tank last year as than went wrong as they often do. I remember this leaked to one side of the car.
I went for a spin today to get the cobwebs out and when I got back I stayed in the car for a few minutes on a call (so longer than usual) when I got out I saw fluid running out from under the car. I cant taste or smell anything so assume its water. Its in the middle of the 2 rear tyres. Different from the previous problem plus the boot is dry.
I laid down on the ground to look and it seems like there is a flap bang in the middle of the car and fluid is seeping from there.
One other thing (don't know if it makes any difference or not) I topped up the water tank last week. On checking it today I realised I hadn't replaced the cap (yes I know) so I don't know if this would have any effect? Water level is fine and I put the cap on this time. Yes I'm blonde.
I just went back out now (6 hours later) and can still see the fluid on the ground. I would have assumed water would have disappeared by now. I've put a plastic container under where the leak is to hopefully collect anything overnight to see if I can tell if its oil or water. There is no more dripping though.
Can anyone shed any light on it before I get mugged off at a garage please?

Was there a condensation on the trunk, after or during the leak? If so, it might be the cap needs replacement. Also the air bubble might cause this issue, or basically there is something seriously wrong in the coolant system that the water/coolant do not circulate properly after heating.
If it's a water pump failure, the whole coolant dumps itself less than a minute!
