OEM Exhaust Modification

Afternoon all
So Im about to take delivery of a 987.1 (2.7) and though it was rather tame sounding on the test drive.
I've looked at after-market exhausts, but first thought I should ask if anyone had modified an OEM exhaust to give a bit more noise?
I have done this to both a TVR Chimaera (aka sleeving) and a Ferrari Mondial with good effect.
What is the internal construction actually like in the things anyway?!
