Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere..!

Anyone driven a gen 1 S and a gen 2 S back-to-back? Do you notice the extra 10 brake or so in the gen 2? Any other differences in oily bits that make one preferable to the other?

No noticeable difference in power at all. In fact the 1999 Boxster S has the most reliable engine according to a few guys on here. Only benefit on gen 2 is glass rear screen and better looking hood. I prefer the gen 1 with ambers etc and its plastic aero is more slender. I'll have one in jet black pls!

I've had both, subjectively the bum dyno feels the 986.2 has slightly more torque. However, a more significant impact will probably be how the engine has been looked after and how it is running.

I had the former and still have the 550 variant of the latter, both modded though. Back to back sure you may notice a difference. But once settled in long-term you are not going to be thinking how you were short-changed of >15bhp once you are driving. Unless you are timing yourself against a benchmark distance, marker or other car you will barely notice and eventually forget any difference anyway. The same applies to fresh power mods feeling good at the time but eventually they become your new norm.
