Roof issues - 2005 987 2.7
Discussion
Hi guys,
My dad and I are doing up a 2005 2.7 boxster that's sat for a long time but done very little mileage etc.
Owned by a family friend but has offered it to us if we can so it.
We had power issues but traced it to a broken wire now fixed, and it starts and runs but needs a new water pump.
However the main issue just now is, when we had lower issues the roof went down but only came about half way back up we found a c clip had come off part of where the roof attaches to the motor, and we have the roof closed now, however the Windows only come up about 3/4 of the way, and when on/running, the dash shows an error message.
Basically saying hood not locked securely.
Dad has been on various Porsche forums but many are American and use different terms to us Brits, and I said I would ask here.
Basically it seems to be a common issue, with talk of a sensor at the end of the wire controlling the roof mechanism.
However no one states where it is, and dads getting a bit exasperated.
Does anyone have an idea why the roof isn't getting recognised as closed when physically it's locked down.
It's very annoying as the windows are half down and we can't leave the car uncovered, I.e. Like with a bmw when you open the door the Windows come down a bit then come back up, it's like that but Windows are about 100mm down.
Cheers guys.

Hi, thanks for tips.
We're based in Aberdeen so Surrey is a bit far lol.
The main issue is finding out where the switches are as finding a diagram or getting a rough list of where they are would help.
Roof works, if a bit slow in the middle of its operation, but everything is loose and greased, since it's motor that seems a bit weak.
But a switch in handle might be a start.
