Just tried to open to the boot and, to my surprise, it didn't open. Looking closer, it appears the rear spoiler is now misaligned. On the right hand side, it now sits relatively forward (and higher) compared to the left, covering the boot lid and making it impossible for it to open. Activating and retracting the spoiler from the button inside the cabin works but comes back to the same resting position.

Unsure how this could have happened - only had the car 10 days and this is the first time this has happened (used the boot many times since I've got the car and so I'm sure the rear spoiler has been ok until today). I never deploy/retract the spoiler manually. Will call up the OPC tomorrow as the car is still under warranty but was wondering if anyone has came across this issue previously?

Thanks.

Have a close examination of the rear of the car - maybe someone's driven into it.

This is a fairly common problem and there is a thread about this somewhere on here. My theory is that it probably leaves the factory ok but then the bumper area at the rear of the car sort of 'settles' a bit and throws it all out slightly to the eye. The closed gap is also smaller that previous models and I think it's more noticeable because of that.

I took mine back to the dealer after a few months and wasted two hours of my life that I'll never get back. They insisted on checking the ECU before they would even look at the spoiler to make sure I'd done nothing wrong and the car hadn't even exceeded the run it miles at that point. Needless to say they said it was normal and that nothing could be done.

In the end I did it myself and it's actually quite easy. Just extend the spoiler. Remove the screws underneath (these require the star shaped adapter) and that releases the painted section. This will then reveal the unfinished part of the spoiler which is fitted to threaded bar with height adjustable locknuts. Just tweak it a bit until it looks ok to the eye. It's not fiddly or difficult, but does require a bit of time and patience to get it just right.

I'm not too handy with the spanners and I managed it, so it can't be that hard!!

Thanks for the replies. Definitely not involved in an accident.

Just an update - took it to the OPC this morning. Looks like the deployment mechanism on the right hand side is completely loose compared to the left. So they will be replacing the whole thing next week under warranty.

Not what you would expect from a P car but a result nonetheless.

I once noticed my spoiler wasn't going all the way down and sitting flush, didn't think much of it, thought I'd get it looked at the next time it was in for something else. Then I raised it to wash it and was alarmed at how lose one side of it was, it was just about to fall off completely. Took it in and they fixed it for me.

Did they fix it or change it altogether?

Just an update.

Handed my car to my local OPC on Friday who replaced the whole spoiler in the end (?initial plan was to replace the motor only). Done under warranty. Now good as new!

Got to say, great service from Porsche Sutton Coldfield - was given a brand new cayenne as a loan car for the weekend which wasn't too shabby either!
