Cayman GTS dampers
Discussion
Does the Cayman GTS have the same dampers as the 981S with PASM? I'm thinking the ride in the GTS on 'normal' is a little bit jiggly compared with the S. Could be down to the tyres (Goodyear Eagle F1s vs P Zeros)?
I get the impression that all Cayman (Boxster too?) GTSs came with F1s... Reason for that?

I've not read anything about the GTS PASM or X73 being any different to that on an S, so I would expect the dampers to be the same.I get the impression that all Cayman (Boxster too?) GTSs came with F1s... Reason for that?
My 2016 Cayman GTS came with Pirelli P Zeros from new and rides superbly in the 'standard' chassis setting. If you've driven a car on F1s then I would say that's the cause of the difference in ride quality.

The GTSs all have 20" wheels whereas the S comes as 19 as standard. I'm pretty sure that the dampers are the same (given the same spec) so any difference in ride can only be due to the wheel size, tyre brand OR tyre pressures. Porsche give two different pressures for 20" wheels (only) 33psi as standard or 30psi "comfort". 718s now recommend 33psi for 19s as well (30 for 981) and having tried both pressures on my S (19") the difference in ride - and particularly bump thump of sharp edged road irregularities - on my Pzero (N1) is noticeable - though not vast.I get the impression that all Cayman (Boxster too?) Both S and GTS on 20s and at same tyre pressures (2.3 bar all round - dunno what that is in old money lol).Maxym said:

Looks like it's down to the tyre brand as you suggest then. Have to say having tried F1s - but on 18" wheels, not 19", I'm a bit surprized - but, as Sherlock Holmes said - having eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however unlikely, must be the solution.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
