I've just got my car back after having a bit of bodywork done and now when I lock the car it beeps at me.

I know the beep is to tell me something isn't shut but I can't find what it is.

I'm probably missing something obvious, I have checked;

Doors - Drivers and Passenger
Glove Box
Center Console
Front Boot
Rear Boot
Roof Catch Shut

What else is there that could be causing this?

The root cause is normally a microswitch but you are not going to be able to tell which one from an external inspection of the things you have listed. Do the windows still drop normally when you release the catch or pull the door handle?

An interior light in the cabin or a boot left in the switched on position so that they're not going off when you shut the car?

Fuel filler cap not locking?

Check windows carefully. up/down a few times, then try again.

Thanks for the responses.

I think I have found the cause but unsure of the cure!

The door lights are on permanently, there seems to be no way of switching them off and the passenger side window is not raising to its closed position when the door is shut - my guess is they are linked and are the cause of the beeps.

The passenger door is the door in which work was carried out so guess something has not been reconnected properly?

Frustrating thing is, this is a Porsche Approved Body Shop and is the second time the car has been back with problems, the body shop is also not on my door step!

Is there an easy way to solve this, my thoughts are its their issue and need to resolve, as it stands my interior lights are stuck on and eventually will flatten the battery.... the car is not used daily so this is unlikely to take long!

Can you raise the window so it's in the fully closed position once you shut the door? If so, raise it, then hold the door switch up again for a few seconds. This sets the limit of the window travel. This has to be done with both windows any time the battery is disconnected....which I presume it was when they were doing the work.

Sounds like a duff micro switch in the door handle.

Could be the culprit, shame the microswitch cannot be bought separately though as all part of the inner door latch unit.

It's actually an Audi part that is used shared with at least the TT models.

No - the window will not raise any further than the point where it drops to open the door - I would assume the battery was disconnected during the works, although it was only a minor scuff on the door so wasn't major work - the first time it came back the door mirror wasn't working... You'd think simple quality control would pick this stuff up...

Hopefully the car is going back in today, just waiting for the call - Is this an expensive part? Not that I think I should pay for it as the car went in with no issues, I feel they've not reconnected something properly!

I'm on holiday next week and was planning to take the car to Wales for a bit of a blast, hopefully they can sort it today / tomorrow...

In my opinion if everything was working fine before you took it in to them for the work on the door then all the faults you have seen since it was returned are down to them. A Porsche approved body shop doesn't necessarily mean they know everything about stripping down and assembly because they're not Porsche trained. It's beginning to sound like the person on the job is not familiar with the mechanical and electrical workings of the door. Keep at them and I hope you get it sorted quickly.

Sorted today, took it to Porsche Cambridge who sorted it out in 20 minutes or so while I waited - part of the same group so didn't cost me, apart from the fuel and and hour or so of my time!
