Cayman Gen1 Fast Road / Track Car
Discussion
I have a gen 1 CS with carnewal exhaust, gt3 throttle body, ipd plenum, softonic remap, bilstein coilers, rss lower control arms and toe steer kit, and probably lots of other things I'm struggling to remember. My car has done 76k so fits your criteria exactly. For me its all the car i need and in performance handling terms punches well above its weight. The only thing i will say is i wouldn't use it as a frequent track car (i have a bike for that...) due to the engine oiling issues. Most on here will say the Gen 1 is best avoided due to the engine reliability issues which is probably good advice assuming you can afford a gen 2. For me i didn't want to spend that much, especially considering how much the mods would cost on top, and considering i don't intend to sell the car. So if you want to build something that costs half as much as a cayman r and is just as good it can be done, assuming you are not averse to the potential risk of it blowing it self to pieces and the eye watering depreciation considering whatever you spend on mods you will never get back.
Thanks for he replies guys.
PR36 - Do you know roughly what those mods stand you in at? A lot of them are similar to what I've been planning.
The track use is only likely to be 3-4 per year, but I don't want to sink £15k into the car, another £10k in mode for it to be problematic if regularly used on track.

for 3 or 4 track days a year I would not drop £15k mods onto a £15k car !PR36 - Do you know roughly what those mods stand you in at? A lot of them are similar to what I've been planning.

just buy a gen 2 Cayman S and get a nicer geo on it with some rs29 pads, that will do 3 or 4 track days a year no issue.
