Scraping sound from the passenger side front wheel

I don't have any Boxster knowledge but in order of cost it could be.

Stone got under the dustshield/backplate or slightly mis aligned shield rubbing.

No friction lining left on your brake pads.

Could even be a wheel bearing worn out.

The only other thing I could add is that the left side is under more stress when turned to the right

and vice versa....

The arch liners can sometimes detach and rub. Doesn't quite tie in with all your circumstances but is an easy check.

Given the sudden onset, I would definitely look for a stone lodged somewhere (look at the caliper/rotor, surrounding area, etc).

Try a couple of fast starts in REVERSE, usually does the trick.

Hopefully, its just the dust shield behind the brakes. I had the same noise after I jacked my 986 Boxster up and probably caught the jack stand on the dsut shield. In my case I drove on and the noise went away completely.

Had a wheel bearing fail on another car. It gave an intermittent grinding noise and I could feel it vibrate through the car.

There is also a plastic brake cooling duct clipped round the lower radius arm, these are quite low and being simply clipped on, an errant speedbump could dislodge it and it could end up rubbing wheel / brake disc.

I had this a couple of years ago and ended up calling the RAC. Turned out to be a small stone caught deep in the calliper between the pad back plate and the disc. Once located, a quick tweak with long nose pliers and we were on our way.
