PSM Light - 981C
Discussion
I bought my 2013 Cay in May; 12.5k. After 3 - 4 weeks, the fuel solenoid stuck - AA man removed it; I freed it and put it back. Plastic microwelding caused the problem, so I greased the pin...
Some weeks ago, had an extended drive with the heater on and I found the brake pedal binding slightly, followed shortly after by the PSM light, cruise fail, and stop/start disabled.
P/Tewkes had car for a day, and replaced the pedal bushes.
So, driving to family Xmas had the PSM light on again, with all the other symptoms apart from noticeable brake-binding; and again on way home.
P/Tewkes will have the car again in a week or so to investigate.
Has anyone else had the PSM light with replaced pedal bushes? What might be the underlying issue?

As you mention the pedal isn't sticking it is likely that the brake light switch adjustment is slightly out - the switch should have an air gap of 1.5mm +/- 0.5mm between the switch tip and the pedal if the switch reacts late or early when brake pressure increases an implausible fault is logged - if the PSM light goes off when the ignition is cycled and you feel like trying a quick fix you could try regapping the switch - it's on an adjustable / sliding insert in front of the pedal (have a look under the dash with a torch)
Hi Pope. That makes sense - but why would it only do this after being driven for (say) around an hour, with heater on? (Over May to October, have done the occasional long trip without the heater and fault didn't make itself known.)
I oculd try a long drive without using the heater ... but frankly, don't fancy it at this time of year

Mine did the PSM Disabled thing after the pedal box was fixed, as you say, without the obvious brake binding taking place. It was 'looked at' during its 3yr MOT/Inspection and hasn't done it since, but TBH, I have hardly driven the car in the last 2 months, so can't say it is fully rectified?
Thanks for comments - good to know I'm not alone; and I have some questions/info when I return the car (on Monday 9th). Will likely have a 718 courtesy car, which will be interesting.
As a general comment - both sagas so early during my first Porsche ownership are not very impresssive - when I compare reliability with other cars owned since 2000, with around 15k miles per year: Honda ATR (153k miles) - one n/s/f side-light bulb; SLK320 (50k miles) - switch on driver's seat adjustment (but around £600 for whole assembly!); Z4C (60k miles)- nothing... absolutely nothing!
I'm rather hoping that my experience to-date proves to be an anomaly, esp. as the 981C won't be used for work (around 300 miles per week)and I would like to keep for long-term; my wife has agreed to share her Golf GTD which has 115k miles already...

Just back from P/Tewkes.; best cakes!
It seems they've adjusted the switch (brake pressure anomaly)... so I really hope that's it. Thx for all comments above.
I had the opportunity to drive a courtesy 200-mile 718BS with PDK... impressions are:
- immensely quick, with great torque after short build-up
- some low speed gear-changes a bit clunky... 98% of others just seamless; responsive in auto mode
- visibility restricted to side and rear with soft-top... not easy in traffic
- engine sounds a little hammery... to say it's like my wife's Golf GT TDi would be grossly exaggerating... but nonetheless not refined for the class of vehicle
- love the very low cruising revs in 7th (maybe that's just me - but feels effortless)
- the rear-end isn't as neat as 981... to me, it looks like a bit of home-made design
- managed fewer mpg than mine... despite most of the journey being tooling along around 50mph in traffic
But can't fault it as an astonishingly quick machine; esp if you've not tried a F6, I can see its appeal.
