Out of interest I was told my a Porsche employee that Porsche will be releasing electric Boxter and Cayman to the market. Not necessarily in GT4 form though just yet!TheAnimal said:

Agree with cmoose. Porsche have made some serious hints it will develop a next generation GT4. The hint goes further that it will likely be a NA F6.
Detuned 3.0 Flat 6 Turbo from the Carrera as expected. If true.
Cue 918 GT4s up 15% on announcement.

So which models are these engines in? Porsche tend to use xx capacity engines that exist in current models not ones from the past! The only 3.8 9A1 is in the "Turbo" but how long is that going to last and will they perhaps turbo the 4.0gt3 (like pre 997.2 turbos)and make the 3.8 defunct for there top end model to warrant £40-50k. over a 991.2gts!But a turbo in a GT car goes against what it stands for which is a responsive high revving sports car. As the GT3 has N/A I suspect the GT4 will also have N/A.
As has been said before, they are very able to stick the old F6 3.8 litre lump in there with say a power kit added as long as it meets emissions.
The new GT4 will just be a Gen II version of the first one basically (?) and yo uwuld think any radical changes such as turbo's or hybrid power would come in the next design generation.
Is that not common sense or would Porsche be so bold as to put a laggy turbo in a GT car because it has no other option?
I suspect that if a turbo four was the only way of making another GT4 of this generation, they wouldn't build one and they'd wait until the technology was available to create one.

Are Porsche going to use a larger engine in a cayster than what's in a current 911?
Turbo s are used in racing so why not a Gt4?
Another consideration is the current 3.0 litre f6 without the turbos as the block is good for 450 hp as in the gts and will fit but how much power could be extracted in NA form? 400+hp revving to 8k?
