Most ridiculous options
Discussion
Just a bit of fun, influenced by the amount of time I have spent on the configurator with my 718 Cayman S order, but I have been a little surprised with the sort of things you can add to a Porsche in the form of options. So what are the most inappropriate/bizarre options available for such a car Standard options only. Personally think things like 'lane change assist' are pretty surprising. Surely individuals who order such cars will put the effort in to understand which lane they are in? Maybe the wood bits, strange to me, suitable for jaguars etc ... thoughts
Power steering plus - if it does what it says, what does the standard power steering do?
18 way seats - I have no idea how many way my present seats are in my current car but I've never felt that I needed any more adjustment.
Driving modes - you only need one and it's called an accelerator pedal. Launch control and the 20 second boost thing?
Apple connect - it looks naff and why no Android option? You can buy a Porsche design phone which runs, err, Android. Bluetooth for phone calls and streaming music is enough. I have no interest in accessing my twitter, Facebook etc. while driving.
Interior wood - just no.
Coloured crests on the wheels - just make them standard as I don't care. Crests, badges, logos on seats and arm rests - you can't see them once you're sitting down.
Entry and drive - why no button? They even tell you that the car might get nicked and the key looks like its left in the ignition. Half arsed tbh.
Sports exhaust on a sports car - What is the standard exhaust defined as?
99% of the leather options - seat belt buckles in leather anyone?
Dual zone and multifunction wheel in a cockpit as small as the Boxster/Cayman.

You mean mahogany?
Which I think is an awesome colour. Was close to opting for it on the 718 CS. Highly unusual and accentuates the lovely curves I find ...
I wish people wouldn't lean against the car like that. No doubt there are metal bits on her Jean pockets. Rather than photographing her I'd be screaming "get off my car".Which I think is an awesome colour. Was close to opting for it on the 718 CS. I find this useful - quieter and softer for long motorway cruises, louder and stiffer for the B-roads ...ONtheROCS said:

Porsche chose Apple Carplay over Android Auto because Android Auto sends too much data to Google for Porsche's likingONtheROCS said:

Agreed, but unfortunately you can't spec Auto Climate Control without Dual zone ... Edited by Tim bo on Thursday 19th January 08:13
There are options that are ludicrous but also options that it is ludicrous that they are options!
DAB would be one given it's "when not if" FM gets turned off.
Re the 18 way seats....I am getting them in my new Cayenne....they're sodding superb and definitely offer something over the mere "14 way"!

The one thing that all the 991 reviews agreed on, that I read before buying my 991 was, don't get Power Steering Plus.
18 way seat - each to their own but they are the most comfortable car seat I've ever sat in. They feel fabulous and we spent quite a while sitting in different seats in the dealership to decide.
Entry and drive. Given how many people get their cars nicked by jammers this seems like a security weakspot and I didn't tick that one.
Add to extended leather - extended carbon fibre packs?
The one I have that makes most people double take is - roof rack. However it's the best way to carry the bikes with a 911.
