Still lusting after a Boxster...

In my searches for an 986 they've strayed into 987's... though I'd rather pay more to avoid an early 987..

Regardless, they all seem to suffer from the airbag opening around the steering wheel - I guess this is a common issue? Really cheapens the look of the car.

Anyone else noticed this and is there a fix?

Why do you want to avoid an early 987? The 3.2 is less likely to suffer bore scoring issues than the 3.4.

IMHO the look and feel of the standard 987 steering wheel cheapens an otherwise excellent car. The rim is just too thin.

However, it is quite easy to live with once you own the car.

Thanks for the advice, I was looking at early 2.7's - I'm sure I read early ones had issues?

Was it a new engine from the old 2.7 986 do you know?

I'm not an expert, so have a read of this from Hartech. Hopefully that will answer any questions.
