I used GT1 last time but see that there are three versions (all are approved for use by Fuchs), but hard to work out the relative merits of each one.

TITAN GT1 5W-40 (XTL-Technology)
TITAN Supersyn LONGLIFE 5W-40
TITAN Supersyn 5W-40

On a 986, at least 10 years old... probably the cheapest that is Porsche approved. None will kill your engine.

Thanks. Will try the Supersyn this time. Price is the same - circa £50 delivered [for 2x4L + 11x1L] so can't complain.

Don't forget that Hartech Porsche engine rebuilders recommend that from around the 70k miles it becomes advantageous to move to a 10-40 synthetic oil rather than the 5-40.

As the engine gets looser it is unable to retain the thin oil where it matters for start up.
The 10-40 will hug to the parts that matter and protect your engine better.

My 981 runs on Castrol fully synthetic 5-40 after the first oil change from Mobil 1.
Castrol is also on the Porsche recommended list for use.

My car will receive annual oil changes for the rest of its life living with me.
This will provide the best possible protection for the engine.
My 981 is on 18k miles and on 70k will move to 10-40...........or even 10-50!

Gadgit.

Number ten change is imminent.

See no reason to change to another oil. Zero start up clatter, and cheap too.

Check out Mytyres/Giga-tyres.

You can get 20 litres delivered for about 58 quid.
