I still think it might be a turbo myself.
As it's very hard to see in a year or so what NA engine they would use, plus to show case the Cayman and get people excited about the 4 pot they must really have a flagship 4 pot model !
I still have these exact same thoughts....As it's very hard to see in a year or so what NA engine they would use, plus to show case the Cayman and get people excited about the 4 pot they must really have a flagship 4 pot model !
Ultimately none of us know but the 718 platform was designed for the 4-pot turbo and its so easy for Porsche to just turn the power up on these units as opposed to re-engineering to a NA 6.
Time will tell....
Quite funny how many argued that there would be a gt4rs, and then that the next gen GT4 would keep the naturally aspirated 3.8 or even a detuned gt3 engine. 😂
Seems like reality has sunk in. Of course the next gen will have a 4-pot turbo and pdk. Will they still offer a manual? Probably.

Take a read of the thread on the 991 GTS....people were raving about the 991.1 GTS saying they'll never go for the 991.2 GTS with the turbo engine.
I don't think I've ever seen such a sea change in opinion....the reviews from the owners of the 991.2 are really, really good.
I know a GTS isn't a GT product...but a lot of the people that own the GTS's own GT cars too.
I just don't see Porsche spending the necessary money on the engineering for a N/A engine...I imagine it would be much, much more expensive for them to make and they could probably spend that money elsewhere in the car (e.g. suspension/chassis components)

Me I have always thought the next gt4 would turbo! But then anything could happen who ever thought Porsche would build the Gt4 it took them over 10 years of Cayman production!
If it is going to be a na f6 engine it needs to make an appearance soon if not as we approach the end of the decade Porsche will need to sell/make only turbo/hybrid cars and a gt product ie gt4 with a flat 4 turbo will lead the way! The latest Gt3 / RS when it arrives next year will be the last NA engined Porsche sports car!

Why the speculation? Its confirmed as a flat 6 I noted whilst browsing the magazine stand. As it's very hard to see in a year or so what NA engine they would use, plus to show case the Cayman and get people excited about the 4 pot they must really have a flagship 4 pot model !

Indeed. Got to be the cheapest and simplest option by far, plus it keeps the Cayman/911 lines distinct.
However, this will be the last time both models share a Porsche-specific platform so there may be a swansong?
Maybe the cheapest option would be to re-work all the returned 3.8 GT3 engines and use them ?? However, this will be the last time both models share a Porsche-specific platform so there may be a swansong?
