1 month old Cayman S with £10K extras for sale at £51k at OPC(Belfast) Must be a typo?

I'd like to think they don't depreciate that much in 4 weeks!

I bought my 981S from them in February simply because they are very good value, relative to the cars on the mainland.

No heated seats (obviously) but why oh why do people spending +£50k on a car only spec the manual AC and not pay the small extra for the far better climate control?

Probably because they don't realise it's manual, I suspect - assuming that Porsche wouldn't be such a cheapskate. They see "dual zone" and think that is the significant difference.

I like AC off or on, Climate just saps power and mpg ! then one can have AC off for 90% of the time as it's not needed in the UK !

You can turn the climate off completely, I do often when I have the windows open.

Not speccing it is poor, the salesperson should have advised them better.

AC is 'designed' to be used all year round these days. Well it is in climate mode as it dehumidifies air as well which prevents steaming up in wet/damp weather. I've found the loss of power/mpg negligible and a lack of frequent AC use usually results in a deterioration of the system or the pungent smell when the evaporator gets clogged.

I had a similar view to you (back in the 90s) turning it on when needed. As a result my compressor gave up just after the 3yr warranty expired. Since then I've never turned it off in my cars and currently still get perfect AC in a 14yr old car at that has so far never been re-gassed.

Absence of climate (which can still be turned off in respect of AC) is deal breaker for me.

It's really not obvious on the Configurator....I only realised what it did thank to one of the "Speccing your 718" threads when speccing Mrs Cheib's Boxster. I'd like to think the salesman would have pointed it out to me if I had missed it!

Porsche issue. They have all been like it. Only air unless climate is specced. Pathetic when a cheap hatchback has climate for about 12k

Poor show, Porsche

I agree it's not obvious, but if you read the full details of the options (via the (i)nformation link on each item) it tells you what it is. I also ran my spec past my sales guy before lockdown which is always a good idea.

True - but I remember when ordering our BGTS nearly three years ago now and then I had to pay a fair sum extra for DAB radio that came free on the Skoda Octavia I had at the time - which also had sat Nav and dual zone climate control as standard!

Apart from no climate it seems a nice spec no?

Bucket Seats
Sports Chrono
Sports Exhaust
PVT
Heated Steering wheel
Sports suspension
Folding mirrors
GT Sport Steering wheel

Almost sure it came out at £61k on the configurator.

Just not the colour I'm after unfortunately...

I'm guessing by the double negative you mean there are £10k of options? Because there are wink

Does look like a nice car and good spec.

Buckets will be a bit 'marmite'. Great in a focussed GT4, but think I'd prefer Sports Plus with heating and memory in a softer road car. I've had both standard aircon and climate and both work well - and both need regular minor adjustments. I could live with either.

Obviously there's a bit of time and cost getting over to N.I. and bringing it back, but same also applies to parts of Scotland, where nice cars can also look good value.

£51995 according to local car sales website, which if figure quoted earlier is correct suggests it has dropped £9k in a matter of weeks!

I'm wondering if it's a demo car that was dictated by Porsche and they've been made to spec it as a sports oriented choice.

I don't see the point of climate, I've had it in a few cars and never use the auto mode, the temperature gauge of the cabin is never acurate and I find it annoying it coming on & changing power level all the time. Depending on my mood and how hot / cold it is want the air directed to different places and at different power levels anyway. Much prefer the basic air con than the useless auto version
