Can any one tell me the law on front number plates. I was pulled last week
but the number plate was displayed in the front window as the car looks so
much better with out the plate on the front.
i think it's a fine the first 3 time you get stopped. then they report you to DVLA. not sure what they do. Recently a couple of forces had a week crackdown and gave £100 fines on the spot. but the number plate was displayed in the front window as the car looks so
much better with out the plate on the front.

Rule 1: Don't display your number plate in the front window. It makes you look like a bit of a dickbut the number plate was displayed in the front window as the car looks so

Did you get let off or a fine?

That's why I went for a stick on front plate.
Hi,Sorry to thread hijack OP.
Got any pics of your front end with the stick on number plate? Don't mind if you want to obscure the actual numbers etc.
I've picked up a really nasty stone chip, more like a glancing blow, which has damaged the front PU right in the centre about 2 inches below the bonnet line on my 987 Boxster. Instead of having the front PU painted, had thought about a stick on number plate instead, to cover the damage.
Thanks.

That's almost certainly illegal too. They have to be mounted vertically - 2001 RTA, though I suspect you are less likely to be pulled for it and I suppose you can argue on the Spyder that there is no vertical surface to mount it on.bcr5784 said:

I should've said, it's not a Boxster, but if you're still interested, these are the only photos that are already online. They're not the best.. Road legal, reflective, spaced and sized properly, includes the manufacturer's details:

Not a Boxster:
