So I have a bit of knocking from the front and have done a bit of reading but by all means not conclusively so am interested in what others might have done to improve the standard suspension set up.
When I first got the car I took it to an independent and had it given a good once over and ended up with new H&R springs lowered 10mm and am not particularly impressed. I had all the alignment done and some new tyres but it has done now just over 100k so am looking to give it a bit of an overhaul. I use it as a daily driver and the road I use everyday is in a horrendous state so need something that will soak up the bumps and still be good for touring Europe and the odd lap of a track.
So first thing I am going to look at is replacing the bottom arms or maybe re bushing them with polybushes (purple or black maybe) so am interested to know if anybody else has tried them and or any other combination of shocks and springs that really work. Preferably something that doesn’t hit every single speed bump that they seem to have put all over western France now!

No connection, but I understand the GAZ will do a certain amount of customising with their Gold coilover setup. For example, you can get a tarmac rally spring/damper package that might be a winner for what you want. Ohlins also get good reviews in terms of a nicer ride plus better handling, but are expensive. Other wise. look at replacement std dampers.
From my 996 experience, I would replace top mounts which seem to wear out by 60k+ miles. Meyle coffin arms with standard bushings would also be on my list as a cost effective replacement. Then assess and work through the other suspension arms.
IMHO, its dampers and bushes that will fix ride in a 100k miles car. I doubt the springs are the real issue, though spring rate will certainly have some effect.

Ok thanks for the info, so far all in favour of the original bushes so will go along that route.
Also you are right the top mounts were also gone and had new ones with the springs earlier this year.
I seem to remember reading that the Olins for the Boxster were a myth? Not going that route yet but would be interested if they are available.

See November 911 & porsche mag. They have fitted Ohlins to "their" Boxster. Also you are right the top mounts were also gone and had new ones with the springs earlier this year.
