Just picked up a 350 mile GT4 in the OPC network and she's an epic steer. The car does however emit a high-pitched squeak from the rear whenever the suspension is made to work, ie all the time. I'd describe it best as the sound polystyrene makes when you rub it, or the chirping of a tiny bird. Car is clubsport spec.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and arrived at a solution? Obviously I can drop it at an OPC to hear that "they all do that, sir" but the three I test drove did not. Would be helpful to give the tech a steer if there's a known fix.

Thanks for any help offered.

Mine does that. I believe a lot of the Clubsport equipped cars do.

GT4 clubs are afflicted by a fair amount of noise from cage movement, unlike the 991 GT3.

I would class mine as a very small occasional squeak, not sure that is an inflication :-)

it's the Mrs.

You might want to let her out if she promises to let you keep the car

Where specifically is the noise coming from?

As has been mentioned the cage on the GT4 does make a number of noises especially when you hit a small pot hole etc.

From the rear quarters behind the engine housing. Sounds like the cage is rubbing against a plastic finish or the shocks needs lube/are leaking. Search on Rennlist finds several posts postulating a leaking strut/shock but no positive corroboration. Multiple observations in US suggest similar will have been experienced here.

I also have the documented suspension clunk, probably amplified by the cage, on severe bumps but very intermittent. The squeak is pretty much a constant chirping.

Suspension the GT4 can be a bit noisy..... spherical bearings and solid mounts... so somewhat to be expected... also reduced sound deadening and if you have a cage that will be contributory too.... add to that, the fact that your car has only traveled 350miles in nearly 2 years... i'd say she's working out some kinks, blow off the cobwebs and loosening her joints..... travesty in my opinion.

If you've only just pick the car up.. definitely report it back to the OPC you purchased from.. they can have a look in case there is anything wrong and it will put your mind at rest.

I had a similar noise from the rear, took the car to Guildford

End result 1 x rear damper replaced FOC

And that fixed the squeak (ie you're referring to to that, and not the clunk)?

No question she feels a bit tight. Definitely in need of a good ragging. Happy to oblige. I'm thinking of doing 1,000 miles before taking into OPC to iron out any concerns

It was a squeak not a thump
In fact the supplying dealer told me it was the rear luggage cover

I simply asked for it to be investigated whilst having other work done on the car and ended up with a new damper
