I've a 981Boxster S with PCM.... Is there a simple route to 'upgrade' to DAB radio?

DAB doesn't appear to be a Techquipment possibility.

DAB on your phone bluetoothed to PCM (if you have phone prep) is probably the easiest way.

The only annoying thing about Bluetooth audio, or plugging the phone into USB and using an app like Spotify or DAB etc. is when I get a phone call, take the call and hang up, the music seems to default to the phone’s iPod library, rather than resuming the app music I was listening to.

Means I then have to pull over and open up the app and resume playback, then continue with my drive!

Don't have that issue with my Sony XA1 and Tidal. Probably depends on the phone.

Must be an iPhone quirk.

I suspect it could be fitted but a fairly high cost (£800-1200) From memory the GPS antenna includes DAB so it would be an add module, code and wire job.

What's the reason you want DAB?

If it's purely for "quality" don't bother. I have it in my 981 and my wife's X1 and in both it has the annoying habit of losing signal from time to time. I see no advantage over FM although I seem to recall there are some stations only DAB will (badly) receive?

Thank you for the insight, DJMC. I've always kicked myself that I didn't spec. DAB when I bought my 981c. (I love BBC 6 Music).

But now you say it's pretty annoying, I will stop beating myself up about it!

Cheers!

It depends where you live. DAB is great round my way - wouldn't be without it in my car smile

Same, wouldn't buy a car without it.

I wouldn’t buy without it now, but the signal does cut out from time to time in rural Yorkshire so neither would I beat myself up if a car doesn’t have it already.

Save your cash OP and specify next time out if you’re forced to. Frankly, it should be standard spec in all cars these days.

I was a bit gutted I found the perfect car...except it didn’t have DAB.

After a bit of research I went with one of these -

Worked well and didn’t need any plumbing in.
