Dealer Prices Increased For 981 CGTS - Reaction To 718 GTS?

The OPC at Brooklands, Leeds, Wolverhampton, Nottingham and Cardiff have all increased the price of their used 981 Cayman GTS this month, which is the first time Ive seen that.
I'm guessing either 981 GTS prices are on the up (seems a bit unlikely so soon), or prices were artificially low prior to the 718 GTS launch (with dealers trying to shift stock in case the 718 GTS kicked the 981s into the dust)?

For such a sought after car over 20 for sale is quite alot? Some of them have been on sale for a few months. Of course if your looking now and get a few grand knocked off you'll think you got a cracking deal, not knowing they just upped the price. Welcome to the world of Porsche

Yeah of course that will be it Or it could be that Porsche are getting you to pay much more for a car than you need to? sounds clever marketing to me, let people listen to the reviews etc etc They will only sell around 400 718 cayman GTS's in the uk and they will.

14 in the OPC network and 8 at specialists. Not the most there's been, it's been down to 5 and up to 20 at OPCs at times. It ebbs and flows. 22 of 545 is only 4%.
I'd also noticed that prices seemed to have risen a bit. Mileage is the biggest factor in used pricing, spec the biggest factor in cars hanging around. Well specced cars around £55k-£60k generally aren't up for sale long. Manuals tend to hang about as most buyers want PDK in their comfy road car, although a lot of manuals were specced quite cheaply.
The GTS is a superb road car and it has a glorious sounding, and gloriously responsive to your right foot, naturally aspirated flat six. For those of us who don't do track days it's an absolute delight to own and I can see why they haven't lost much from their original list price.

A quick search and found 26 but still low and agreed it ebs and flows, but not many sold so like the 718 gts it will be sought after because of the low number initially purchased. I do wonder why they always seem to have had 2 - 3 owners on say a 16 plate with 5k miles , im guessing people have them then sell as they don't lose any money

Very different scenario for the 718 GTS due to the engine change. 981 GTS is last of the breed, 718 GTS isn't.It will be interesting to see how prices go over time, and I wouldn't be surprised if low mileage 981 GTSs were valued higher than an equivalent 718 GTS as the newer model follows a more normal depreciation curve, but having the newest and fastest may trump all. It will all depend upon how much the F4T is desired or whether the last flat six Caymans stay in strong demand.
Number of owners is a sports car thing - they change hands quicker than 'normal' cars. Happens to all Porsche models.
Is it only GTS' that are wanted? Dad has a very nice and quite individually spec'd late 3.4S and he keeps mentioning changing it-however I can't help thinking he'll get rinsed on a trade in.
It's probably done less than 3k miles, PDK, black sports alloys, two tone interior etc etc.
He swapped it out for a similarly low mileage boxster thinking he'd use it more but it just lives under a fitted car cover in the garage-the last time he took it out was to dry the discs off after washing it!

I think people always pay a lot more for the best/rarest spec of a great car, even if it’s only slightly better. The spec gets even more important once they get old/maintenance costs start to climb, as they all cost the same to run. On some old muscle cars, people pay twice as much just because it came from the factory painted black?!
The GT4 will probably always fetch more than a GTS, but in my case, I came from a 996T and wanted something less uncompromising for road use, so not a GT4. Then realised there are only 140ish manual 981 CGTS vs. 500 manual GT4s. If you want PDK, then there are no GT4s, and the GTS is top of the tree.

595 GT4s, 545 GTSs and only 135 of them with a manual gearbox. Right now I think the PDK cars are in higher demand more as it's a more popular option, but there will always be folk like me who would only buy a manual.
I think the GTS badge itself, alcantara interior, more aggressive exterior styling and "top of the road-biased tree" status all contribute to the love for the 981 GTS. I think it's a fantastic looking car with superb handling and an absolutely fabulous engine. It's peak Cayman for me - better looking than the 987 series and a cooler road car than a GT4. Without the wing and splitter of the GT series cars it's more R/Touring in appearance and all the better for it in my eyes

Faux suede is "in" at the moment, but it's a fashion thing as far as I am concerned and, like Avocado bathroom suites, might be "so yesterday" in years to come. That said I'm no fan of leather either - give me cloth any time (call it G-Tex by all means, but please don't ask me to pay extra!)
