I drove over to Belgium last October and had a Carnewal Exhaust fitted to my 2011 987-2 Cayman S. Everything went well and at a total cost of €520.00 is great value. Exhaust noise is perfect for me , not to loud for neighbours and motorway cruising but no sounds great when you put your foot down.

However I was a little concerned regarding track day limits as the standard exhaust at brands hatch gave 98dba at 4000 rpm 0.5M away on a static test with a track limit of 105Dba.

Having booked Bedford Autodrome that has one of the strictest limits in the country I was a bit concerned the new Carnewal exhaust would be too loud.

The Bedford limits are very low 101dba 0.5 M static and 87.5 dba at 20M drive by several sensors on the track.

The Carnewal exhaust measured 96dba at 4200 rpm 0.5 M static so I was in and allowed on the track.

However during the day as I pushed the car harder I got black flagged and shown a picture of my car at 94 dba on a drive by sensor. The track officials were very good and although the T and C's say I should be sent home they sent me out a again with instructions that they did not want to see me again.

What it amounted to was I could rev the car to about 5000 rpm and it was under the limit but as it went to 6000 rpm it was over. so I adjusted my drive accordingly, was probably faster for doing it and now know that the Carnewal exhaust is ok for any UK track.

Hope this some help to anyone considering a Carnewal exhaust to make their Porsche sound like it should but not want to have track day problems.

Interesting, I also had the Carnewal exhaust fitted to my Gen 2 S last year and am very happy with it however my 2 track days at Snetterton since fitting the car just passed the static test at 104 db at 5,000 rpm (105 limit) so quite a lot louder than yours, but no issues at all with drive by.

I should add 5,000 rpm was what I was told I had to rev the car to by the tester when I told them the redline was 7,200.

I would be more confident in your static results of 104 at Snetterton as I was surprised how low the static result of 96 dba I got at Bedford was. I would have put money on it being over 100 dba especially based on the standard exhaust result of 98 I got at Brands. I know I was half expecting not to be allowed on the track at Bedford.

I think those top end revs make a big difference, interestingly at Brands no one watched my rev counter but at Bedford one watched the revs and another took the reading at the back of the car.
