Hi All, went out for a drive today around 20 miles, stopped off for a coffee and the boxster had a dead battery when I tried to start it again.
Luckily a guy had some jump leads and it started and got us home.
Its been on charge for over 6 hours since we got back so I went to put it away in the garage this evening before connecting the charger again and I cannot even turn the car over? the battery is completely dead.
Does this mean the battery is F~~c@~d or is there another problem?

Thanks

Do you not drive the car much?

Sounds like it's fked to me.

Although does sound odd that you managed to start it at first with no issue and actually drive somewhere before it died..

Euro Car Parts have great discount on Bosch batteries. I replaced mine with one of these and it's been a treat ever since. It only got about £130 after discount code and came with a 5 year warranty too.

So is the charging circuit working? Alternator and voltage regulator are key.
Measured the voltage at the battery at idle and at 3K RPM?
Cleaned the post and clamp? Checked the ground cable?
Will a battery place load test the battery?
Is the charger a true charger or a maintainer? Some maintainers demand that the battery be charged above about 10 volts before they will even try to maintain the charge or increase it.

Thanks for reply's. Checked out the battery at my local dealer and it was only holding 8amps out of 800. So yes completely knackered.
Now fitted a new one with a 5 year guarantee for £130 and everything is fine.
