3.2s 986, 2002 reg - only just getting to grips with driving this since the sun has been out and I’ve progressed to doing some left foot braking yesterday down some favourite twisty roads. It works great with the balance of the car but does anyone know why the brakes won’t release immediately sometimes, when you’re on the gas at the same time as the brake? It’s a strange feeling like the vacuum from the servo is “sucking” the brake back on as my foot is coming off.

It’s almost like the extra vacuum from the intake due to my increased throttle angle is creating more servo assistance and sucking the brake pedal down for a split second after I take my foot away.

It definitely is to do with the servo - just not sure if it’s inherent to the cockster or if it’s just mine?

Thanks in advance!

Are you sure it’s not just the throttle being disengaged by the ecu? A lot of vehicles won’t allow the throttle to open when the brake is being pressed.

Try accelerating and only just pressing the brake pedal very lightly to bring the brake lights on and you’ll see if it cuts the throttle.

Will do so and report back. (It doesn’t feel like that but I’d definitely not thought of it.) Many thanks!

Throttle stays open on the 981 so I would imagine it would on the others.

Yes, that seems to be the story with modern Mercs. I've never noticed it on a Porsche.
