Why are my vent holes in my brake disc blocked up?
Discussion
Hi
Question for you knowledgeable folk.
The inner face of just one of my disc brakes (FNS) vent holes are all blocked, the outward facing one and both inner and outer faces of the other free are normal. The disc doesn’t look worn as it isn’t lipped at the edge.
Why would this be so and should I just free the holes with a bodger or drill bit or replace both the front discs and pads.
Brakes do squeal a bit but have done since I have owned the car which is about 18 months now.
Advice greatfully received.
Thanks in anticipation

5 mm drill bit and drill through holes by positioning the hole you're drilling at about 3 or 9 O'clock as appropriate to prevent pinging the backing plate as you break through. Set the drill to hammer mode to get the job done quickly. Put something down to catch all the brake dust that you will dislodge in the process. It can be quite therapeutic cleaning out your discs.

Ooooh, that's just sad Steve !!

I find it's far more therapeutic blocking the vent drilling's up in the first place

A small stone managed to make it's way into a vent hole on a rear disc when I was in Belgium getting a Carnewhal exhaust. It made an awful crunching/screeching noise and for a moment I thought I'd have to make use of my European Green Flag cover for the first time.
It took a few minutes to realise what the problem was but once I did it only took a few minutes of stabbing and flicking with my trusty Gerber to sort it out.
Luckily there didn't seem to be any noticeable damage to the pad either.
