GT04 FAB, Anyone know this GT4
Discussion
Was originally bought by Jack Wood and his pal (who both owned 996 GT3’s) to share. Used on track and trips up to Scotland and at the time it was sold on it had a relatively high mileage (in a World where most owners are petrified of using them and the effect on values!) and went into an independent dealer before moving on.
As mentioned above the ordering and running was documented in GT Porsche magazine over a good 12 month+ period.

Jack and James were the first owners who both have experience of GT3s etc. The car was used but not abused whenever I saw them. It was never a press car or a journo’s plaything, Jack just has contacts with some magazines for article. His sorted 996GT3 was compared to a later Porsche model by Jethro on video at Blyton a few years ago. Can’t vouch for the subsequent owners but the early history wouldn’t bother me. No connection to either of them by the way.
I considered this car and whilst it appeared to be a good honest example with no obvious signs of damage or abuse, the ECU report provided by the vendor had some discrepancies. These may have been due to their equipment rather than a fault with the car. I asked the vendor to get the ECU read at an OPC as I believed this would be more reliable. The vendor was reluctant to do this so I walked away.

It had over revs in RR1 and RR2 - which is no big dealThe total operating hours were in line with recorded mileage - so far, so good
The bit which seemed odd was that the over revs occurred at say 400 hours, yet the total operating hours were 300 ??? ( I can't remember the exact numbers)
As I said in my earlier post - this may be an issue with the equipment interpreting the ECU data rather than a problem with the car, but the fact that the vendor wasn't prepared to obtain an alternative reading didn't inspire me with confidence. In their defence I imagine an OPC would have charged them for a full 111 point inspection including an over rev report which would further squeeze their margin
Hi guys
Thanks for all the comments it’s all been really helpful, is it the case with Porsche’s that 1 missed gear change can blight a car for the rest of its life?
Also if I take out an extension on the warranty and 6 months later miss a gear then a few months after that the engine goes pop
Will the OPC not cover it?

The car is showing 11600 miles now
I considered this car back in July last year— looked in excellent nick tbh, and the owner spoke about it with real pride (certainly didn’t sound like the kinda guy who would mis-treat his cars). Had 10k miles on it at the time, so clearly been hardly driven since.... CSLmarson said:
Hi thanks for that,
Was that a private sale based in Scotland?
Why didn’t you buy it?
Thanks
It was indeed.... Didn’t buy it simply because I fell in love with a Carrara White GT4 closer to home, which was slightly cheaper.... No other reason— it was a well kept car.... Was that a private sale based in Scotland?
Why didn’t you buy it?
Thanks
