Morning all,

$$$$ Cash to plug a computer into your car!! $$$$

I'm doing a bit of modding to my 2006 Cayman S, which has a slightly poorly engine, and am looking for someone with a similar car who might be willing to help.

What I need is to get a download of a working car's standard Porsche ECU in order for Emerald ECUs of Watton, Norfolk to program an aftermarket one for my car.

This would basically just involve Emerald plugging their computer into the car and downloading a load of data while they turn different things on and off (this allows them to understand how the sensors on the engine provide info to the dashboard etc. - like rpm or oil level). Nothing would change on your car - the process doesn't upload or overwrite anything.

As my car is not running I need someone to stand in for me. They would need the car 2 or 3 days, for which I would be willing to compensate you...

So, if you are willing let me know! Help

It should be a Gen 1 987 Cayman S (3.4) with Manual gearbox

- preferably with (but not essential);

Sport Mode
PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management)
Cruise Control
Tyre pressure monitoring

My build is in your hands peeps. Make me proud.

Thanks in advance,

Jimbo

Good luck but I can't help thinking fitting a dreary LS3 will tear the heart and soul from your car.

A V8 Cayman? Isn't that how they should come from the factory? wink

Good luck with your build, it would be great to see some pictures as it develops.

Is this going to be for a K6 or are they just calibrating something else for you? The things you list aren't all on one bus and there is some significant stuff going on behind the scenes in powertrain control to make those work. A very basic ECU like a K6 isn't going to be able to do that although you could probably about get the dash to work without oil level etc.

It would be worth speaking to Syvecs or a good Pectel dealer if you do wish to retain all those features as Pectel or the higher end Life based ECUs have configurable CAN as standard and generally three distinct CANbus that can all be run at different speeds.

Powerful, tuneable, small and light, they are also free revving to 7k rpm. Works well enough in the Corvette, what’s not not like?

Well done cracking achievement. Hope to hear more about the conversion.

I follow Etsy on here who has an Audi twin turbo v6 engine in his cayman running 500+ bhp.
