My 986 S has a H&S exhaust bypass mod.

I'm looking at doing a trackday in it, but am concerned over noise limits.

Anyone had an issue with this?

Is the bypass mod reversible? Or can i do something temporary to quieten it down?

Best off getting it tested and see what volume its putting out. You may be worrying over nothing?
If you do need to shut it down a little, some downturned tips can tabe off a dB or 2 or if you need more then some slip on noise killers such as a "Supertrap" can help.
Bedford is only really the issue for most of us as its got super quiet limits, most other trackdays have noisy days anyway so there are always ways around it.
My Cayman R has a full titanium system and makes a racket at 103dB. Ive still been fine for most trackdays.

Ta.

It's a 98 dB evening at donington

It certainly is a bit loud with the bypass, especially when giving it some beans. It's on when holding a steady throttle though.

Don't really want to lose it because it adds to the character, but a shame to miss out on a trackday because of it.

hmmm

There are some apps that can be downloaded that will measure dB. Granted they may have questionable accuracy, however nothing to stop you trying a few different appas and take an average of the results they give. Least that way you'll know.
Nothing worse than arriving at a trackday only to be told you cant go and play.
If the circuit is local, you could even pop in and im sure they would measure it for you beforehand.

Noise limits are nonsense and should be banned.
Buying a house near a circuit ?
Buying a house near an airport ?

Buyer be aware of your chosen location, and kindly stop moaning.

Indeed, can't stand that mentality - Croft & Mallory have had issues due to complaints from 'new' locals, and Elvington has pretty much stopped trackdays altogether...

wkers! If you move somewhere noisy, you shouldn't have a right to complain about the noise!!! rage

Yes the mod should be reversible if it comes to that - will just be a pipe welded in each muffler. It can be removed and the holes filled.
