Looking at M2 DCT cars upto £35k, any people come or gone from M2 to a Cayman PDK car?

Comments, views etc?

A mate of mine has just swapped his M4 Comp Pack for a 718 GTS Cayman, and says the difference is night and day between the two - whereas the M4 was blisteringly fast in a straight line, the suspension and brakes weren’t up to prolonged fast road use, whereas the Cayman is not much slower in a straight line and so much quicker down a twisty road that the M4 wouldn’t have seen which way it went.

I know that the M2 is different to an M4, but it follows the same recipe in a slightly smaller box, so I hope this experience helps.

Thinking I needed something more family friendly I swapped a 981 BGTS for an M3 CP and sold it 4 months later, was very quick but it had no sense of occasion, just felt like rep mobile to me. Now back in a 981 CGTS after swapping the M3 for a 718 CS which was better but still didn’t capture me like the 987’s and 981’s did.

You'd sneak into a Cayman R at that budget I'd wager.... if you want a proper drivers car. Cheapest on Pistonheads at the mo is £38k so not a leap, especially if you can negotiate a few sheckles off

I used to own a E82 1M, than ordered a 981Cayman GTS alongside, and now have returned to a F87 M2.

The CGTS was a superb car on in- and exterior, I loved the PCCB`s, the sound as it reved to max was just unbeleivable, it still gives me gooesebumps as I think of it. HMOG. A great great car BUT; the awfull steering, it ruined the Porsch experience completly for me, I was so frustrated about the steering that I sold the car.

The CGTS has a slow initial steering input, it has a laggy way of reaction to it, also the self centering force IMHO too high. The 1M and M2 have a far more quicker initial steering response. The Bimmers have less caster compared to the CGTS, that also helps.

I later drove a 981 GT4, that steered much better IMHO.

Waiting for a 718 GT4 now.

I've got an M2 and a 718 Boxster S. I really like them both and the Boxster is better overall.

But the M2 sounds better, is more practical and the handling could be described as more entertaining!
