I have a 987 RS60 Spyder Boxster (19” alloys). The car still has the original (11 yr old) tyres as it has done less than 20000 miles. I think it’s about time I bit the bullet and replaced the rubber and would appreciate any recommendations. I’m not bothered about absolute grip as I don’t track the car and would prefer a tyre that is more biased towards comfort and lower noise.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Neil.

Any then, I would fit PS4s, others only fit N spec, a lot of people fit good years, and some people still fit PS2.

So really fit what you like :-)

Just put two N rated Bridgestones on the rear of my 987.2 Cayman S. Good service and reasonable price from 'tyres on the drive'. I have no connection with the company but they provided me with good service and I didn't have to leave my house.

Fitted some Michelin PS4S to my 997 last year. Can't recommend them highly enough!
A vast improvement over the old PS2.

Normal road driving. What has improved massively is tyre noise, although I have to say the old PS2 ones where really quite old.

I run Michelin Pilot Sport 4s on my Cayman R and have been dead impressed with them. Not cheap but very decent tyres!

It's so annoying that only N rated tyres can be fitted to comply with Porsche warranty. I'm due a change soon but it looks like the only Michelin option is PS2 that is N rated?

Keep hearing excellent things about the PS4S but have 22 months of OPC warranty left!

The Goodyear Eagle F1’s, available in N spec, also seem to be highly regarded & are cheaper than the PS4S’s.

Also I don’t know what size your rear wheels are but for my 265 x 35 x 19’s there are no PS4S’s avialable & Michelin can’t give a firm supply date.

I’m currently running Michelin Pilot Super Sports all round and with them being over 6 years old and circa 3mm of tread on the rears need to make a call on which tyre to go for. I might just replace the rears like for like as the fronts seem okay or replace all 4 with Eagle F1’s. I’ve not decided yet.

PS4S are only N rated in 20" I think (I ordered some yesterday in that size from OPC)

Thanks for all the replies. I’m going for PS4s.
