987S wheel sizes

My 987 came on a lovely set of 19” Turbo wheels in the correct size - apparently they were an option from new, but are pretty rare. I think they make the ride too harsh though, so I’m thinking of going to a smaller wheel, 18” or even 17”. Does anyone have any experience of the difference between these options on a car similar to mine please ?

My 2.9 Cayman came on 18" S wheels. I put 17" with winter tyres on it last winter changed for summer then back for winter so I have had a bit of experience with both. On 18" it sort of feels like infinite grip and very precise, on 17" it moves a bit more and is more adjustable, needs a bit of thought on corner entry and can be adjusted more with the right foot. I much prefer the 17" option, intend to put summer tyres on the wheels rather than revert to 18" come the better weather. Ride is a bit better on 17" too.
