Lowering drivers seat height on 987 Cayman S
Discussion
Hi all,
Planning on getting the car out on track very soon but could do with sitting a bit lower in the car to make room for the lid.
I've spoken to my local specialist and hes not keen due to air bags etc etc.
It will be used 85% road and 15% track but the lower driving position will be more comfortable for daily driving too.
Two questions:
1. Is there a way to retain Porsche seats but modify/replace sub frame?
If not...
2. Can anyone recommend a seat/frame combo that will lower my seat height. Could do with 2 inches ideally.
Cheers all

Thanks for your replies.
My current seat is the sport seat which has electric adjustment for back rest but manual for height / distance.
I was thinking Recaro Pole Positions and will defo retain standard seat for resale.
Will I need to blank off air bag sensors to avoid lights on the dash? Any idea how i do that?
Thanks again.

Need to find out the resistance of the current airbags. You can tehn just splice in a suitable resistor to fool the car into thinking the airbag is still in place. Its the same method as what is used for swapping out a non airbag steering wheel. My current seat is the sport seat which has electric adjustment for back rest but manual for height / distance.

My suggestion is a Cobra Nogaro seat with their custom seat mounts & you can even have them with runners that adjust forward/back if that’s what you’re after. Cobra have a Cayman S with these seats installed as one of their own cars & they can trim them to match the existing interior if you’d like it to look like a stock item.
Below is a pic of their seats in a customers 996 for Illustration (I’m just about to have a pair installed in my 996 btw)

OP, btw I can’t send you a PM.....can you change your profile settings?

Thanks for your reply. The seats look great. I'm not overly fussed about OEM look and I'll probably only fit a drivers seat. Who wants passengers on a track day! Below is a pic of their seats in a customers 996 for Illustration (I’m just about to have a pair installed in my 996 btw)

If I can get ultra low rails that bolt straight in then I'm happy. Where are you sourcing these from? Do they offer a fitting service? Cheers.
P.S. I have changed my settings....I think.
