Hiya, I’m close to buying a Cayman but the deciding factor will be how child friendly it is.

I do the nursery drop off in the morning and my wife does the pick up so I’d be needing to use a child seat in the car.

I’ve read other posts about the Isofix/airbag upgrade but I was wondering if anyone has tried to put a child seat in the boot when it is not being used.

Will it fit? Has anyone tried this?

Thanks

We managed to get a childish adult under the bonnet, he seemed to like it.

Get the measurements of a child seat and ask, or one of us can go measure the depth of the hole Under bonnet and report back.

Halfords are always very helpful. They usually have a large display of seats. Ask an assistant to take a couple out to your car and try them.

I have a 987.1 (2008) Cayman and had the retro fit airbag deactivation and isofix points done at OPC. we've got a 'maxi Cosi rodifix' seat and it fits in the front boot (just) when not in use.

I use a £2 foam camping mat cut to size under it when it is being used as I didn't like the imprint the seat left on the leather. Might just be my heavy lump of a child.

Are you just planning 1 child? Not much good when No2 arrives :-)

The only way is to go for a 911. I did and the kids loved it (although leg room is an issue). What she child, and if you go belted rather than isofix it will be a bit smaller.

My current child seat measures as 19" x 31" x 16" (or 480 x 790 x 405mm)...all help appreciated.

Thanks - if my current child seat doesn't fit then I know I have a backup option.

Yes, I did think about that but hoping to keep some man logic in the mix so not considering it too heavily. We have one child at the moment but if a second comes along I'll not be taking two on the nursery run together.

I did wonder if the rear seats in a 911 would be worth considering, might look into it.

Not that this helps but I was always amazed at how big the frunk is. I could get a fully packed military burgen in there. It’s deeper than it looks.

The other thing to not is that when they are in a backed booster, I think they come apart quite easily. With mine the back clicks on to the base so it's easily removable and takes up much less space.
