Hi
I’m looking at buying a 2008 Boxster s 3.4 and it’s the first Porsche I’ve looked at buying, I’m confused at the various features it has, for example PASM, is this on all the time as there is no button to switch it on and off?
it also has a a sport button and variable damper button, I believe the sport button tightens the suspension so does that mean it overrides the damper button, finally it has the sport chrono pack which seems to add a clock to the dash, otherwise not sure how it interacts with the other features.
Help please!

The variable damper button you describe is the PASM button. Select this and the suspension goes into "sport mode" but gearbox mapping, throttle response, stability management, sports exhaust if fitted etc is still in normal mode.

Alternatively, select the "Sport" button and all those features, including the suspension go into "sport mode"

So you can have either:
Everything in normal mode
or
Everything in sport mode ( select Sport button )
or
Suspension in sport mode but everything else in normal ( select PASM )

ETA - Sport Chrono is the world's most expensive stopwatch, but adds to the look of the cabin if nothing else.

Get it bought.

We picked one up last year and love it.

The sat nav is a bag of st, but get a blue tooth kit and all is fine. Bloody fast and good fun.

Thank you, very helpful.
So basically the Chrono pack just means the stopwatch?

I believe the chrono pack gives you launch control and if you get the auto box the chrono gives you faster shifts which some people say makes a big difference. Might be worth looking into, hope that helps!

........ and if you use it on track, Sport Chrono lets you build a circuit lap on the nav screen, set a reference lap and save it out to a mem stick. Its a bit more than just a stop watch (comment based on 2011 model Cayman - check for this feature on a 2008 car)
