GT4 owners - living with that low front splitter?
Discussion
Am considering GT4 ownership, (to scratch the GT itch) but coming from a CS I'm concerned that the lower front splitter is going to be tricky to live with.
I appreciate it can be viewed as a consumable item and that extra care may have to be taken in terms of 'angle of attack' on occasion and I have no issue with either that but what is the general consensus for general day-to-day driving on typical UK roads and dealing with 'sleeping policemen' etc.
Does that front end get scraped a lot and have you experienced any occasions where it's been a 'no go!'
Thanks in advance.

Never had any "no-go" areas and i'm out in the sticks with lots of bumpy roads and weird inclines/declines + multi storey car parks etc in town.I appreciate it can be viewed as a consumable item and that extra care may have to be taken in terms of 'angle of attack' on occasion and I have no issue with either that but what is the general consensus for general day-to-day driving on typical UK roads and dealing with 'sleeping policemen' etc.

On scraping - I'm definitely in the "its a piece of plastic and consumable" camp. I probably scrape it about once a drive - never badly though...

Never had a situation where it's a no go. Speed bumps not a problem. Some ramps in car parks catch it. And my driveway does, though that is very unusual combination of steep drive and heavily cambered road. So basically I scrape the splitter every time I take the car out and bring it home. After 3 years it doesn't look too hideous and I've not contemplated replacing yet. Splitter on new car does not look to me like it is more likely to catch stuff, but it's a bigger part so would be more costly to replace.I appreciate it can be viewed as a consumable item and that extra care may have to be taken in terms of 'angle of attack' on occasion and I have no issue with either that but what is the general consensus for general day-to-day driving on typical UK roads and dealing with 'sleeping policemen' etc.

Sacrificial component that can be swapped out in seconds at little cost.I appreciate it can be viewed as a consumable item and that extra care may have to be taken in terms of 'angle of attack' on occasion and I have no issue with either that but what is the general consensus for general day-to-day driving on typical UK roads and dealing with 'sleeping policemen' etc.

Scrape away IMO, replace before selling.
I have had two areas of no go with mine. The car cannot cope with certain V-shaped road conditions - it gets stuck in the V. I had to have my driveway dug out and paving slabs inserted, to enable me to actually put my GT4 in the garage. My driveway slopes downwards, and then there is (was) a lip that slopes upwards. That was enough to defeat the GT4.
It happened again in a public car park just outside Birmingham. I could drive in, but couldn't drive out forwards so I had to reverse!
It's not really a dealbreaker, and on normal/rural/bumpy roads it's fine. I haven't dared go near a multistorey car park though...

This. Scrape away IMO, replace before selling.
It grated on me for the first couple weeks - Pun intended. But after that, not bothered and got on with the business of driving.
Its never nice to hear it - but was designed like that for a reason. You may have to take some inclines/declines and ramps at an angle. Trade of for having a nice car like this... people will just have to wait. Own it and be proud, lol.
Will be interested to understand what happens in the 718 GT4 as the part looks different and more expense/difficult to replace, and front lift is not an option again.
