I can't believe that’s correct.

That’s a 20% margin, surely no one sold them that car for £61,500 ??

lucky to get that on that spec car ;-) imo.

some one with a much better spec car only got a £62k trade bid last week on here.

is what it is. Not sure the surprise.

No, not as generous as £61k; looks like £59,734 to me...

I 100% agree with you and it reaffirms the fact that trading in a 981 GT4 for a 718 GT4 will be a costly exercise. I'd considered getting a used 981 with a view to doing exactly this (if a later allocation becomes available for whatever reason - unlikely I know), but it's just not going to work.

A privately-sold 981 GT4 with an existing Porsche warranty, priced sensibly below dealer prices but higher than trade/PX price seems the only win-win for both sellers and buyers.

Unfortunately lots of private buyers attempt to sell their cars at the same prices as dealers, which is madness.

Finance is widely available from 3rd parties, you don't need dealer finance. Obvs some sellers need a PX, this is where it gets harder, esp with a generally slow market. Hopefully sellers who need to shift their current car bought sensibly last time and are not trying to flog a tiptronic risk-of-bore-score 4wd 911 with dog-dick red interior! smile

My GT4 cost me £83000 new. I went large on the spec and then spent another £2500 on Tooaz PPF.

Unfortunately I need to raise some cash and have to sell. My best trade bid is £62000 and they will advertise it for £72000.

Just extended the warranty for two years as well.

Was hoping it would be worth closer to £70000.

When we bought our Alfa 4C from them 90% of their stuff was on a sale or return basis. I know that was four years ago but they didn’t own hardly any stock then. And when I was looking at selling it in March they wanted to do a sale or return then too.

I have said it before countless times and nobody would listen to me. The 981GTS price is sinking into the 60k’s easily. If you ring around for those selling at £75 and offer £68/69k they will take it. By end of year they will be be 60k all day long, some dipping below into 50k

If someone wants out/has to sell it doesn’t surprise me in this market. I think the only way a trader will buy a car right now is knowing that they can buy it and IF they have to reduce it to be the cheapest car on the market they will still make money. No way 981 GT4 prices are going up this year....they will be cheaper by the end of the year.

Crunch the numbers.

Starts out at a 20% margin. But that's just the asking price and any sensible buyer will try to negotiate a £5k reduction.

That's a 6.5% reduction in selling price but a 30% reduction in dealer margin.

£5k is a chunky amount to get off, saying that I got £6k off a Cayenne Turbo (last week). that was already one of lowest priced ones (year, milage etc) on autotrader.

Regardless of what the new buyer pays, perhaps the most enlightening insight is where the trade bids are now for decent GT4s, which is early £60k's
