Ok so I have this anniversary is coming up and it looks expensive as I have just been quoted :

111 point check - £252.00 Inc. VAT

12 months Porsche Approved Warranty - £660.00
24 months Porsche Approved Warranty - £1,190.00

12 months Porsche Assistance - £175.00
24 months Porsche Assistance - £285.00

Additional MOT to booking is £54.85.

For spending that much you'd think they'd at least throw in a free MOT. Appreciate these are fairly fixed costs but has anyone done any better ? With my previous experience of running German cars I'm unlikely to let the warranty lapse. Porsche Assistance is also pretty handy but presumably is slightly more than the equivalent RAC policy.

Push for a free 111 check - they have the car in for service and MOT and are checking pretty much all of it anyhow so why pay twice ? If they refuse, find an OPC that will give you a deal.

My OPC price match local MOT prices £35. They also waved the cost of the 111 check if done at the same time as MOT. That price seems high for 111 check.

In the end i didn't bother with an extended warranty.

My local OPC do the 111 point check for just over £100 if done the same time as the MoT. I can't imagine others don't do similar.

My car has just turned 4, with full monty cover- and has never needed anything done!!

I like the peace of mind, so happy to pay.

What you’re being quoted for the check is higher than what I paid last summer, has the cost risen across the board?

Some OPCs will cut you a deal on that and the MOT, just ask them.

Cambridge are good to deal with.

It's possible to get a 111 point check done for free outside of a service. My OPC offered a free 111 check for warranty extension in May after I emailed the DP. My prior telephone call to a service receptionist didn't achieve this.

DP said he'd do it free as I was a good customer.

Not for long though... after they failed the car for warranty on aftermarket grilles. See other thread.

I'm going the no warranty + indy (RPM) route now rather than remove the grilles. Plus my last major service was a disaster at an OPC.

At a free RPM health check last Saturday (phone them for details) the technician told me they'd had a chap in who'd bought a 911 privately after the seller had had a 111 point check done for him pre-sale. The car passed the 111 "tick box" check but RPM's check found £8,000 of problems which the OPC check should have thrown up. The litigation continues...

My own experience of 111 point checks is similar. Wheels ticked prior to purchase, but not cosmetically OK. PGB paid out.
Tyre inflator ticked in 2015 and 2017 but only the recent 111 check in May this year revealed it wasn't actually there.

In other words... you pay £216 (the correct price) for a 111 point check to get an extended warranty only. It means nothing otherwise.

111 check is worth zero as you say, have you seen the list, they are more concerned about battery and N spec tyres, the check is just a check for lights and crap it's not even as good as an MOT imo.

my Cayman R had some cheap rear chinese pads in from my OPC.

as for £8k issues from a RPM check, sounds iffy. if the cars under warranty with a clean 111 OPC check then it's a non issue to bring that up with the OPC.

must be more to that story than it seems.

Not sure if it was under warranty, I think the buyer was relying on the 111 point check to throw up any issues. There's always two sides, but after my grilles escapade and the last OPC service I've lost faith in Porsche dealers.

What were the other German cars? Assuming you are talking about the 718 in your profile, do they have a poor history for warranty claims? I appreciate that it's peace of mind and all that, but are really likely to justify the cost of the warranty and pre-check?

PS - I'm surprised the 718 is 3 years old already!

3 year 718,s are about .
Porsche assistance is run by the AA anyway so cut out the middle man and go direct to them.
