Hi, where do I start, had a problem with the clutch pedal sticking in the half way position when releasing the pedal entering a roundabout, as you can imagine the car was committed with traffic oncoming and instinct taking over as to why the car was not moving forward as it should be by increasing the throttle which resulted in lighting the clutch up but moving the car out of danger with on coming traffic. When I realised what the problem was and getting my foot under the pedal to put it in the up position the damage was done, I managed to get the car home that night + getting it to my local OPC the next day with no issues, explained the above which they said they would look into, OPC called to say no fault with the clutch pedal and the next step was to take the gearbox out which was fine with me, OPC called to say the clutch was burnt and started to break away from the inside and would not be a warranty claim, at no point did I mention warranty to the OPC, I then asked OPC for pictures to be sent to me showing the damage to the clutch plate, flywheel and pressure plate which I received. Now looking at the pictures sent you can clearly see that all the damage is done half way on the flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate with more damage heading inwards on these items, great I thought this shows in what happened as said above, how wrong was I, the reply was no fault with the clutch system and the cost is £2800 for repair in which I said that's fine but still does not solve the original problem of the pedal sticking in the half way position, I then asked for a disclaimer as I felt that it was £2800 wasted if the problem arose again, a few days later the answer was no, the car has been repaired and I have agreed to pay the £2800 for the repair but would not sign for the car to be released back to me due to the extent of the pedal issue as I feel its not been resolved, I wish that I didn't have to write this and knowing there have been issues with pedals sticking before as posted on here what are my options now because as it stands from this Saturday the bill will be paid but the car stays at the OPC indefinitely. thanks for taking the time to read this and all opinions or options on what I should do next would be much appreciated, regards John

I had a similar issue on my old 996. Clutch pedal would stick half way up from time to time, especially when releasing having changed up at high engine speeds. Everything was fine upon static testing, normal driving and inspections (must have removed the gearbox four or five times). In the end we replaced the very recently installed new release bearing (which looked fine I should add) with another new one and bingo all fixed.

To my mind, if you pay the bill you're accepting what they are tellng you; subsequently leaving the car with them in protest for an underwrite they won't provide means you're simply going to be without a car.

I'd pick it up and move on. That is unless ...

you bought the car from the same dealership that undertook the repair and more importantly you've owned for less than six months. In which case I'd be saying the car has an intermittent fault which was likely present at the time of sale and, my understanding of the law, is that the onus is on them to prove other wise (irrespective of any warranty, or not); I would not in that scenario be paying anything to them.

Not on a Porsche, but I had a issue where when I pressed the clutch pedal it went to the floor with little to no resistance and wouldn't come back up, but the car remained in gear (2nd), then on the second pump after I lifted it up it went rock hard. It turned out that the throw out bearing capsized so it came off the fork, thus the clutch didn't engage and it stayed in gear jamming the fork.

We didn't got the the cause of it, just replaced it.
