Hi,
The front end, including the bonnet, of my 2008 Boxster had been resprayed just before I bought it. Even so, the paintwork on the bonnet was pretty poor and over time little blisters have appeared. A local bodyshop re-sprayed it last year but again tiny bubbles have appeared. The paintwork can't be knocked back/flattened as there is a risk of exposing the primer underneath.

The bodyshop now wants to remove all the paint completely, i.e. have it blasted back to bare metal, and then re-spray it. The problem is they have nowhere to store the car so I'm going to have to remove the bonnet and take it to them.

So, my question, how easy is it to remove the bonnet? Any gotchas?
Thanks,
Phil

No experience, but it looks like a straightforward hinge arrangement?

I would have them remove it and risk the drive home if it's not too far.

That said though, I would be concerned with the paint match if they are not blending it into the wings.

What colour is it?

Thanks for the reply. I think I will take your advice and get them to remove the bonnet. I only live 3 miles away and as soon as it stops raining I'll get it over there.

Interesting - drive 3 miles home without a bonnet on?

Not saying this is wrong, just that it will make for an unusual sight!

If they are really going to blast the bonnet then go somewhere else it will be damaged. Needs stripping and or sanding.

If it's a dark colour, like the carpet and plastic underneath, I doubt many people would even notice.
