I have an opportunity to pick up a relatively high mileage Cayman gen 2 that needs rear control arms and brakes all around. Approaching this kind of mileage anything else that I should be budgeting for?

It’s been maintained under Porsche warranty up to now however I’m planning to do as many track days as time allows so planning to upgrade brakes and control arms to allow track geo.

Not much to worry about if doing track days.

As the bits go just replace. Top mounts, arb bushes. Engine / gearbox mounts. Pretty straight forward if you get a spider diagram of the cars components.

Engine should be fine.

Good to hear.

Engine/gearbox mounts are something I didn't come across on my research, are these a common 100k replacement item?

Depending on the age of the car the PDK gearbox oil needs replacing at 60/120k miles (or every 6-12yrs) on the service schedule.

Not much but will add a few hundred to the service cost.

If brakes need doing then check the discs.... depending where you get them done it can almost double the price although if wanting to maintain the warranty (assuming it can be warrantied past 100k) then cost at OPC is worth checking. Was quoted £1.2k for brakes & disc change at OPC. More than double all indies.

You can pass inspection for Porsche warranty if you change discs and pads yourself. Just use Porsche parts. I think they only warranty cars up to 125000 miles.

If you're handy with the spanners all the aforementioned parts are easily DIY fitted, no specialist make specific knowledge required. The discs and pads are simple, no different than any other make of car.
Pagid/ATE ect brake discs/pads are half the price of original Brembos with very little (if any) difference in quality.

This talk of warranties and using Porsche parts is probably irrelevant because the OP is talking about upgrading bits for track which will invalidate a Porsche warranty.

Are the stock suspension components and brakes really that inadequate for track use as I read on some forums?

Don’t really rate the stock suspension on road unless at higher speeds. At speed it works really well imo. However track will be a different kettle of fish and getting Required camber are front will likely entail gt3 lower control arms.

Not a bad thing however as you will prob want to refresh the stock ones.

I have stock suspension with only 15k miles on them for sale as complete units. Only due to replacing for ohlins. Will be a nice part of the refresh.
