I always wanted a Porsche Cayman GT4 (981) in PTS Signal yellow, and have decided upon buying a Racing yellow example as a base for such a project, would it be the right thing to do or not?

Could you not wrap it instead? Probably far cheaper and can be reversed.

I have looked at cars which have been wrapped, they don’t have that 100% paint like finish...

Thats what Chris Harris has done with his Touring.

Bought a Racing Yellow car and done a colour change wrap... or liquid wrap with Signal Yellow.

Can only have a negative impact on residuals particularly on a GT car where originality is everything. If it is a lifetime keeper though go for it - it’s your car.

Porsche Reading did a colour change on a 911 R IIRC. I reckon if you got it done by someone like that impact on value would be minimal....Speed Yellow is such a sort after colour.

I have something against wraps no matter how realistic they are, also as I will be using a Racing yellow example as a base car, there won't be any colour change recorded against the car.

It’s not a wrap, it's a proper respray over a special coating.

Be about 17k from them.
I have 3 jobs done there, had to send all 3 back, disappointing.

i mean, you can.

But depends if you just go to the most expensive bodyshop.
And don't get stuffed with "PORSCHE TAX".

GT4 would be quite easy to paint. Nice flat panels for the most part, so quicker to prep.
