What are people's experiences with securing any form of discount on 718 approved used stock?

Upon a recent engagement (which included PX) no discount was offered on the car. I was provided with an improved interest rate on their in-house finance, and they threw in some goodies regarding alloy insurance etc. but there was nothing in terms of physical money off the car itself (718 Boxster S).

I know it's circumstantial and dependant on the car in question, but can the folks on here provide some experiences/insight into what (if any) discounts they have been able to achieve on the advertised price of a car when looking at approved used in the Porsche network?

I expected bargain basement on the trade value of my car, but wasn't expecting to get shafted at both ends of the equation with no money coming off the car itself.

First foray with interacting with Porsche so guidance welcome... Thanks in advance

On approved used I have had a similar experience, might be worth looking at new / pre reg as it appears the manufacturer support gives them more flexibility and if financing may end up cost neutral or even a tad cheaper than used .... obviously dependent on age, but worth a look.

Very difficult to negotiate when you have a trade in....and they know that. You’ll do much better if you can sell your car privately. As a guide I would say you should be able to get £1k off for taking finance. That’s what my OPC does, did it on the first car I bought from them which was AUC....and I took out a notional amount of finance to get the discount.

Almost zero chance of haggling on the price in my experience. They're very patient with their stock and will gradually reduce it themselves until it reaches the point where it sells as the screen price. Mine (GT4) was in stock for nearly 6 months before I bought it. In that time it came down £5K and hit the magic number where I jumped and just beat a couple of others that also thought it had reached the magic number.

End of 1/4 or if the cars been in stock 3 months.

I have paid cost a couple of times on cars.

You just have to watch stock.

Thanks for the responses team.

Good to know there is little wriggle room; it'll focus the mind when I do spot the right car that I should go for it and get on with it.

they wont discount in the 1st month of stock ownership, and only BIG discounts after the car is > 3 months stuck.

I brought my Boxster S in September last year. The car was pre-registered but with only 30 miles on the clock - the overall net saving from the new 'official' list price was 22%. The actual discount I got off the advertised OPC price was 9.5% (£3k). I’m not sure how long they had the car in stock for. Trust that all makes sense - good luck!

Should also say that there was no px or finance involved.

true, I offered to buy on finance if helped the deal, which I would have paid off with cash once deal done

hidden costs with VW finance even though they say there is not.
you pay double interest up front and double if you pay it off plus admin fee's , so it's not free money even if you pay it off quick you might be 4 payments down and at £700 a month that's a lot of money which might not offset the discount.

I thought there was a 14 day cooling off period in which there are no costs/admin fees?

Is there a way to know how long something has been listed for? (or just keeping an eye out, and/or having a spreadsheet noting when you first saw it, etc).

Something I am interested in I first saw a few days ago (only recently started looking), and refreshed the page today and it had dropped £2k. No idea how long it's been on there for.

A £3k discount being 9.5% would make the advertised price £31.5k.

There a website newsnow that tracks some prices where you can see reductions. Google - Newsnow make type model and see what comes up.

Brilliant, thank you, it is indeed on there. And that was the 2nd discount it's had, and says 30+ days. scratchchin

Well spotted, thanks.

Sorry, the correct percentage discount was 5.4% for the £3k off the advertised price.

Try Autoebid more for new cars but does indicate a discount you can achieve
