I know plenty of people have upgraded the oem PSE exhaust to something more sexier.

I was wondering if anyone has a oem PSE exhaust lying around surplus to needs wink I would be very happy to take it! Just after the mufflers basically

Cheers

Here's a related question. I run an early 987 3.2. I'm wondering if it's possible to retro-fit PSE to this car, as (to the best of my knowledge) PSE wasn't an option until the 3.4 came along.

I spent weeks trying to find out if this is possible, two dealers said no.
1 said they can retro fit the Cayman S PSE system but was like 2k
after I gave another dealer the VIN of a car with factory PSE they found and prices up all the parts needed to have the same system, worked out at 4k which was crazy.
Ended up selling the car to buy a flat anyway so just made sure it was a must have when finding the one I have now.

Your car already has the nice equal length headers that they changed for the 3.4.

The chances of finding a CR PSE for sale is exceedingly rare, if you break down the numbers it's hardly surprising.

I've seen many with modded exhausts and many track cars so while it's rare, I am hoping its not impossible. No one usually tries to retrofit a PSE exhaust so the used market for them is also very small.

I think it's a bit of no supply + no demand either that's why we don't see them advertised much. I'm willing to think there's 5-10 in this country at least, lying on a shelf in their garage or in a workshop!

Good luck - I’ve never heard of one going spare I’ll be honest.

There are not that many CR in the UK that have had aftermarket exhausts fitted, if they do often the original is kept for resale purposes. Then hoping it was a PSE version that was removed, and kept laying about.

I think 5-10 is definitely over estimating availability, but if I hear of if one I’ll shout 👍🏻

I thought the cayman R exhaust was slightly different to regular 3.4 S

But if optioned for PSE then it was the same as 3.4 S PSE ?

Ie actually better off with the better flowing standard R exhaust ?

CR PSE when optioned from new was not an S PSE.

If retrofitted by an OPC after production, then only the S PSE was offered, unless you were particularly friendly with your local OPC and could twist their arm to break the rules 😉
