981 base - 981 GTS.

Hello everyone. I joined the forum as I saw discussions about the 981 engines. I just wanted to know how it was possible that the base model with the PSE, 2.7, was louder than the 3.4. Shouldn't it be the other way around? How can you explain this to me? I just ask for information, thank you very much.

Where have you seen this? From my experience they're similar with PSE, if anything the 3.4 was louder.

Ive a 3.4s with PSE and its a tad louder than the 2.7 with PSE plus mine does have BMC race filters

We’ve got a 2.7 with PSE and it is very loud but couldn’t say I’d it’s any louder than an S. I know it’s louder that a 718 GT4 though.

Just done a track day at Bedford autodrome and was told my 2.7 981 was on the noise limit of 99 decibels, I was shocked as it’s a standard car, and does not sound loud at all

Standard or PSE? As others have said PSE is louder than standard even when off.

My 981 BGTS was 98Db @ 5,500rpm on Sunday @ Snetterton.

Standard mode enabled, so would expect a few more Db with the Sport button pressed.
