Just seen a 2.7 981PDK with 60 odd thousand miles in a good colour and 20" alloys, advertised for less than 20k at an independent. HPI clear. I'm not too clued up on the prices of these, I've been casually looking at Gen 2s, but that seems about 3k less for a 981 than I've seen elsewhere. Sign of the times? Bad time to be considering it, but I'm tempted. My main concern is, if it is a sign of the times, prices stand to fall quite a bit further.
Probably a sign of the times - everything is going to be discounted at the moment, if anyone hopes to sell.
There will also be other factors that effect values - Year, History, Condition, No of Owners, Colour combo, Mileage, and Spec.
Most people will want Climate, Heated Seats, Cruise, Bose, PCM, Sports Seats, PDC (f &r). PDK with paddles, plus a nice colour combination.
Of course quite a few 2.7s may not have all of these, but the less they have the lower the value.

It is a cheap car, but I hope its the light in the photos and the seat colour isn't what I think it is.... If they are, then that'll explain its price.
If its service hasn't been done so far this year, its a major. Its done quite a few miles since it was last MOT'd - If it needs tyres and brakes as well, then its no longer a sub £20k 981.

I'm going to appall you by admitting I quite like the interior......yeah I know, I'm clearly not well! In an ideal world I'd be having a closer look at that, but agree that it might need a few quid spent. Wonder how far it might fall........If its service hasn't been done so far this year, its a major. There's a couple below £20k on A/T. Is it this one?

I've done a search and 987.2 models with a bit lower 40k ish miles are that price so there is almost overlap. Enlightening!

Often been tempted by a cheap 981 Boxster for sunny days and European holidays.
Always thought the Boxster had grown up with the 981. Purposeful looks, lovely 6cyl / flat-6 engines, superb handling, reliable, economical, practical, comfortable, quick release roof ........ what’s not to like at that price.
Ok that interior is challenging. Porsche do get criticised for the expanse of their mono-colours, but I’ve seen that 2-tone look on quite a few early 981s - and, really, it does look like an awkward clash of colours - especially the instrument binnacle and door armrests.

Yeah, that's it, thought it seemed like a decent deal, at least if the car measures up in the metal.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...

WBAC are not used values. They are below trade price offers for cars that will be punted through BCA auctions.
That’s what the car is worth if you need the cash quickly and unfortunately that’s the position thousands of people will shortly find themselves in. The point is prices have dropped 30% in a few days. All asset classes are suffering. Was about to put a deposit on a 981 about a year ago. Baby got in the way put pondering again now. Had expected it to take a two or three months to see them sub £20k.. suspect holding off a little will see a much wider choice.
As above - the 981 vs 997.2 pricing comparison will be the most interesting.

I think they are a very interesting car ... of course social distancing now makes it very difficult to buy one !
In these times I can quite understand Classic cars and overpriced Halo cars may fall by a chunk and not recover other than to a new level ... but for good honest cars that follow a sensible depreciation curve, they will recover.
Their value is connected to the new price ... not the availability price curve, and so as new car sales normalise so will prices.
There are doom mongers around who will propplegate ? doom monger values ... it is never a comfortable place to be if you do have to offload an asset at a distress price ... but it will always be thus.
To the topic ... a nice Gen2 981 PDK ... is a lovely thing to look forward to after all this is over, and I would say a good buy

This one looks a touch nicer to my eyes.

Nicer interior, lower miles. Not keen on the alloy design but they are not the worst I've seen in a 981.
