Down in the drivers footwell of a Cayman 987S . Stuck up the top side of the panel that faces your shins near the steering column.

It's not wired to anything and has a snipped wire to it. Stuck on with double sided tape. I found whilst doing the clutch delay switch mod.

Hoping its aftermarket from a previous alarm/tracker/bluetooth item of some sort and not OEM and responsible for preventing engine detonation?

What's the foil covered battery looking jobby?

Any thoughts?

This.

Nigh on identical looking to the one that goes with the single din Becker Nav units of circa 986/996 times.

Could be for Tracker type GPS, or anything else that required GPS, but I'm 99.9% sure it's an aftermarket GPS antenna for something.

That is 100% a GPS antenna as stated above, as for what it was connected to - could be anything, tracker, camera, sat nav etc.

Ok thanks and looks like it's ok to bin it then on the basis there's no sat nav or tracker fitted.
